  • webnmar: See you all at the meeting tonight!

  • webnmar: Hop, we went to Bierstube and McGillins when we were in Philly last June for NHC.  Good places to go to.  I heard good things about Memphis Taproom too (but haven't been there yet).  We also liked Eulogy a lot as long as it is not too hot weather wise.

  • webnmar: I could easily spend a full day in and around Richmond.  A one-day sort of place implies then driving home.  I would not recommend that since I would try to finish the evening at Mekong and taxi to a hotel for the night (or what is left of the morning at that point).  We spent a day doing the historic tour and could have easily spent longer if I was doing it myself and we had the contacts we now have.

  • hopmonster: found a few high quality stops in Philly that I had not been to: 1) Memphis Taproom, 2) The Atlantic, 3) Kraftworks and 4) Strangeloves. One of these days I will sstop over at Bru, Bierstube and McGillins (he oldest continuously operating tavern in Philadelphia - and it is in an alley like Nodding Head)

  • scootertig: Trying to decide between travelling to Richmond or NYC for the weekend. Obviously very different destinations, but is there enough in Richmond to string together a weekend beer trip, or is it more of a one-day sort of place?

  • webnmar: BFM is always available at Mekong in Richmond, and its only 2 hours away.  And there is free lodging ;)

  • hopmonster: If you’re more into microbrews than you are mixology, raise your pint glass—your drink of choice still does the body good. A new Japanese study found that the naturally occurring flavonoids in hops can increase muscle mass by preventing tissue breakdown during periods of inactivity. What’s more, hops’ antioxidants reduce the risk of heart disease, according to White. But don’t take the beer bong out of retirement just yet. Like with liquor, limit your intake to one or two brews daily, as drinking more can not only result in a beer belly, but can also reverse beer’s heart-helping ways, warns White.

  • hopmonster: hey, I take that personally
    April 13, 2014, 05:48:14 PM
  • scootertig: but yeah, hop confusion reigns on the LoCo for sure
    April 11, 2014, 05:17:28 PM
  • scootertig: I think the LoCo was better than the P'ville, actually, and I rather liked the Imperial Stout

  • mpilchuk: The Corky's Irish red I could drink again, if I had to. Can you put more hops in the Loco ? Summit, Warrior, cascade, centennial, Zythos, falconers and the last two are blended hops.

  • mpilchuk: The p'vile pale and what else?
    April 11, 2014, 04:48:21 PM
  • mpilchuk: So, scoot, there were two beers you'd have again from Corcoran?

    April 11, 2014, 02:31:17 PM
  • scootertig: Not just zlaty, of course. Warsteiner, Veltins, Staropramen, Brooklyn Pilsner, Prima Pils, Scrimshaw, etc, etc, etc
    April 11, 2014, 11:05:41 AM
  • Sean C: yeah.. there is a huge difference between Zlaty and no-flavored Bud
